ABOUT:
The "Well-Being Speaker" is designed surrounding the themes of well-being, loneliness and isolation, with the purpose of this product being to help users both understand and cope with their thoughts and feelings surrounding these challenging themes. The speaker is essentially designed to help users feel less lonely and to further improve their mood and well-being. The Well-Being Speaker" is directed towards a wide target demographic and is designed to be inclusive of everyone within society as the purpose of its design is to help with well-being, loneliness and feelings of isolation which can affect anyone at any age.
The project was designed to help adapt skills in using Arduino, computing science & coding, soldering components into a circuit, CAD modelling, rendering and 3D printing!
HOW IT WORKS:
When the speaker is turned on and connected to a mobile phone via an AUX cable, the light will turn red to indicate that the power is on. There are 5 buttons connected to the speaker, each associated with a particular mood such as happiness, anger, sadness, contentment and anxiousness. The user will press the specific mood button that corresponds to how they are feeling during that particular moment and the speaker will begin to play either music or an inspirational podcast depending on the user’s preference, that is best suited to improving or maintaining their mental state. When the mood button is pressed the clear band around the middle of the speaker will also light up with pleasant, ambient, mood lighting in a colour associated with that specific mood.
